Toilets in Pangani villages are rare. Boza Primary School had toilets built in 1970s that were literally a hole in the ground with no doors for privacy. Islamic Help were building new toilets at the school for boys and girls. It also included a sophisticated waste disposal system. Helping to build this was one of the most physically demanding tasks of the trip. The headteacher with his staff greeted us and thanked us for our work, requesting a picture with us. He asked us if we could also help with the issue of no water in the school.

We moved on to deliver livelihood to a disabled man who had been identified as one who we could help. He had shoe repair skills so Islamic Help were building him a shop for him to trade in. We donated 3 bags of shoes and tools for him to begin with and we got involved in building our first mud hut.

We then moved on to the beehive livelihood project. We had 10 beehives to show local women how to make and put up. It was a lot tougher than we expected. We used traditional methods in creating the beehives with a local village expert showing us the techniques.
